The Chinese edition of Whan Zachary Beaver Came to Town!
I Should Have Been Rewriting
but a freeze is expected tonight. Instead I spent the morning in the kitchen garden. Anyone have recipes for green cherry tomatoes?
SKYPE WINNERS
Last month I posted the Skype winners for the contest celebrating the 15th Anniversary of When Zachary Beaver Came to Town on Facebook. In case you didn't see it there, here are the winners:
Wendy Erin Braun, School for the Creative and Performing Arts, Cincinnati, OH
Alynn Lassiter, Lincoln School, Prescott, AZ
Alicia Quattlebaum Glenn, Hutchison School, Memphis, TN
I've only heard from one of the winners. If you are one of the other two winners, please contact me at kimberlywillisholt@gmail.com so that we may schedule a Skype interview. Macmillan also chose a few alternates, in case, we don't hear back from the winners. Congratulations, again! And thanks to all of you who participated.
U Haul Days
Thirty-two years ago my dad helped me move from Louisiana to Texas. My parents had moved to the Dallas area a few years before. The day my dad hitched the U Haul trailer behind his Buick, he told me, "Life never seemed right with you so far away."
Two weeks ago, my dad joined me on a similar journey. This time we were moving my 27 year- old daughter here for a new job. My husband and I'd waited two years for this moment. From Amarillo, my daughter led the way to her new life. Heading down Highway 287, my focus switched back and forth. Sometimes watching Shannon's white Camry with the peace symbol on its bumper. Other times glancing in the rearview mirror at the U Haul truck my dad drove. Joy filled every cell in my body. Life seemed just right.
Not That You Asked
but I walked 10 miles today!

Why I Detest Four O'Clocks
Their tubular roots dig deep and far. Not only have they attempted to overcome the ferns under the post oak, they've claimed the kitchen garden, on the other side of the yard, for their empire. Four o'clocks are like showy secondary characters, trying to take over a story.
A Hint
Remember I told you I had a couple of secrets. Here's a hint for one of them.
